Identity theft

Post by justwhistle » Sat Sep 07, 2024 9:58 am

My disabled daughter has had her Facebook account hacked, sadly she had put her phone number in her account details - unknown to me!
Her account was hacked last night, first I knew of this was a phone call from a friend who told me she had received a message supposedly from my daughter telling her she had a new phone and needed the friend to supply her phone number by text - she realised what was going on and didn't comply.

however a number of my daughters contacts have responded.
I told them all to contact their phone provider and attempt to stop any transactions on their accounts and let them know they have been scammed.

I put up a Facebook notification on my account letting people know what was going on, and guess what - 20 odd 'people' posted links to folk who could 'fix this for us'.

I have reported all these people to farcebook who as per usual said the posts did not contravene their rules...

Obviously, I can't go at these scammers though my own account, as the repercussions may be unpleasant, but would you guys want to slap them?

I am a lapsed member - real life stuff, same name but not involved on here for a few years, look me up xx. justwhistle.
