I have been away for ages it seems, but have been slowly cultivating a lad pretending to be a Ukrainian refugee.......with a Lagos address LOL It has taken 2 months to get this far, but the lad seems adamant that the This poor woman refugee needed my character's assistance.....who referred her to his church who offered to assist her. The Outreach Committee determined she was legitimate and pulled together a package for Christmas sent by the church. It is now on its way via our favourite shipper P-Log. The lad was excited about this and then gave me the name of a neighbour/friend who is also in dire straits and asked if I could assist him too. It looks like two packages are about to enter the grey world of P-Log. Shipping licenses are about to expire in Nigeria, so our fearless delivery company might have to make alternate arrangements for delivery.
It is early yet, but here's hoping we have a Christmas safari!

The lad is excited with the near arrival of his package. So much so that he now knows of another family in need. This "burned out family" is in need of a nice sized generator, plus $25,000! The lad is hesitant to provide details but he won't get anywhere until details are provided.

The need 25,000 for the children to go back to school,they need phones,the need clothes,they need food items,they need different medicine and need money to also rebuild their house.

Do you have anything to give the refugees we are in need of many things especially generator set to power electricity like 8000 kva.we need food items and clothing materials.

The lad sent a photo of the "burned out" family.......completed with photo shopped signage for the church. Walter, who heads up the Outreach Committee, sent a sharp response that he was upset at being lied to. And if this was a lie, what else was a lie too? Perhaps the parcel which is almost there? Does the church have to put a hold on the first package to ensure compliance with the second? The package is so close they can taste it, as well as the chance at something even larger.....will they be motivated enough to comply?

Walter rec'd an apology and pathetic explanation this morning. He wrote back, in part as follows:

I must say I am touched by your heartfelt message and will be quite honest with you. I want this to be the truth, and want to have faith in your words. My heart tells me to accept your words, my head says otherwise. I am torn, and wanted to be completely open about this inner turmoil which I have.

But he must be sure......no room for error here, too much is at stake.

I ask that you dress as Santa Claus in a red suit and white beard, hold up a sign saying you are coming to the children at the church. This will excite them greatly and make them behave a little bit better. Just go to a local costume store and borrow or rent a costume for a few photos and send them on. our friend requested a delivery today at 22:07 (???). Customer Support replied:

So the lad sends this today, supposedly of the needy family. Walter is very upset at the deception......again....and now wants to freeze delivery of the package until the lad complies.
The church is also helping (on paper anyway) another needy family from Accra, Ghana, and that lad complies with every request and is no trouble at all. How is it this lad keeps messing up and others are more appreciative and gracious in their thanks?

The lad sent a message which explains everything. He has been having phone problems! Apparently technical glitch caused him to twice send fake photos! Thank goodness he got it fixed though, we were all so worried about him...........

I discovered that is also affected my email messages too. Currently I took it to the engineers that to fix the problems.

Walter appears tough, but has a soft heart and replied as follows:

I may regret this, but in the spirit of Christ and Christmas I do wish to extend people a chance to redeem themselves. We have all sinned and fallen short of God's good graces. I have to tell you though, there are people on the committee who want to trust you, but a larger group who want to take the package away and give it to someone else. So, in the interest of Larysa, I will see what we can do to assist you in making this happen.
Let me approach the shipper and see. I am an ex employee now, I retired but I can advocate for you. I will get back to you later today.

Larysa is the person in the Ukranian refugee camp who wants her package sent to Nigeria. Go figure. Anyway, Walter believes in redemption, so he will help. But he must have his trust rebuilt, and of course, our faithful shipping company has the final say in what i.d. is required..........

It seems that the lad behaves differently when motivated. Having had the delivery of the package frozen when it was so close, seems to have made him compliant. What a wonderful Christmas gift! I have attached a couple of his Santa photos. (Over the years I have tried to get lads to do this and this is my first successful Santa photo shoot!)

The poor lad had sickness in his house, technical phone issues and is now ready to get back to business. What a joy it will be to hand him back over to PLOG for their all star customer service.

Since our friend was unable to comply with the regular Identification requirements, he was offered an alternative, biometric, option.



Regretably, he didnt follow the instructions and will have to submit another set....at least, that is what I think. The pictures are currently being processed by Plog's proprietary algorithm..we'll have to wait and see.
