How safe is whatsapp?

Post by CruelGecko » Sun Nov 30, 2025 4:15 am

I mean in terms of preserving anonymity. I have used it mostly to communicate with locals when traveling internationally but I was not worried about protecting my identity. I have heard that it has some major security issues but I just don't know. As I return to baiting as a retiree with lots of time I'm trying to get up to speed on available tools.

You have a phone completely unconnected to your real life to use for this? Because currently, the phone number is visible. However, Mark is working to make it easier for scammers, pedophiles, sextortionists, etc. to hide.

Thanks, that's kind of what I thought. I was thinking of trying to use it in a virtual environment with a phone emulator with a burner number. But I think that is getting too complicated and probably would not work.
