I've been at this for a long time but there is one thing (at least) that I still don't completely understand. Why are so may scammer names two English first names (like Patrick Bernard)? Does anyone actual know why? Sure, I have my own speculations but I really don't know.
I suspect it is related to how they so often mess up how they address a person in English. For example someone named Bob Jones woulkd be most likely to be addressed as Mr. Bob by a scammer.

Re: Scammer Names
The link below is the closest I've ever gotten to understanding it, and even then it boils down to this: there are hundreds of cultures, languages, traditions, and dialects spoken across Western Africa. Many of them do not follow traditional Western naming traditions. When I first joined 419Eater, I assumed the name Goodluck Jonathan was written "backwards," but I was wrong.

Re: Scammer Names
The most logical explanation is that they really don't have a clue what an English name should look like as there are no real rules on forenames/surnames (with the exception of decency, I doubt you'd be allowed to register your son as
Arsehole Brown).
Consider your first example "Patrick Bernard". Patrick and Bernard are both common forenames, but they could also be surnames. So Patrick Bernard and Bernard Patrick could both be real names, as could Patrick Patrick and Bernard Bernard. Even Smith and Jones could be used as forenames.
So, they just pick names that look vaguely English, without any understanding of whether they make sense.
Similarly with the addressing as "Mr. Bob", they have no understanding of how to correctly address "Bob Jones".

Re: Scammer Names
I appreciate the comments. The article on names was interesting. Another hobby of mine is genealogy and I know from that that the treatment of names is all over the map even with a mostly European context.
And yes, I guess lads try to make it easy on themselves by simplifying naming of their European and American victims.

Re: Scammer Names
i've seen quite a few scammers use names that could either be first names or surnames, and use them interchangably such as Lee Scott

Re: Scammer Names
Some of my baiter addy names are double first names. I figure it confirms their erroneous approach to naming because of course we never teach them how to be believable. Which reminds me, in America we just celebrated Veterinarian Day and next up we have Thankfulgiving with a nice fish and rice feast. Merry Thanks!
